Fund for building and infrastructures, the decrees for the allocation of resources to research institutions published

The decrees signed by the Minister of University and Research, Maria Cristina Messa, allocating the resources of the Fund for university building and research infrastructures to research institutions for the years2021 (Decree no. 151) and 2022 (Decree no. 355), in compliance with Ministerial Decree no. 646 of 31 May 2021. The total budget is 94 million euro (47 million per year).
For 2021, 35 million will be distributed as follows: 

  • 17,787,631.19 to the National Research Council (CNR); 
  • 2,234,544.83 to the Italian Space Agency (ASI); 
  • 7,616,231.08 euro to the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN)
  • 2,869,245.84 euro to the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF); 
  • 1,959,951.73 euro National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV); 
  • 604,316.55 euro to the National Institute of Metrological Research (INRIM); 
  • 453,603.47 to the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS); 
  • 408,295.44 euro to Stazione Zoologica “Anton Dohrn”; 
  • 261,760.31 to Area Science Park, Trieste; 
  • 71,615.34 euro to the National Institute for Higher Mathematics; 
  • 68,754.26 euro to the Historical Museum of Physics and “Enrico Fermi” Study and Research Centre; 
  • 40,722.48 euro to the Italian Institute of Germanic Studies; 
  • 364,444.66 euro to the National Institute For Documentation, Innovation And Educational Research; 
  • 158,882.32 euro to the National Institute for the Evaluation of the Education and Training System  

The remaining 12 million euro are divided between the National Research Council and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (6 million each) which will finance two specific interventions for the completion of the GARR-T project. 
For 2022, 30 million euro will be allocated to the ASI for the identification, analysis and systemic and sustainable design of possible future extraterrestrial habitats in the context of Earth and Space observation; 7 million euro will go to the INFN to complement the resources resulting from Italy’s participation in the JOINT UNDERTAKING (EuroHPC JU), the EU programme based on the use of superconductivity in various scientific fields and in everyday, economic and social life; 10 million euro will go to the INAF for the upgrading of Space Astrophysics equipment and laboratories.
