A call for proposals for events that could become part of the schedule of this year’s Genoa Science Festival, to be held in Genoa from 26 October to 5 November 2023, is now open on the initiative website.
Proposals may include exhibitions, workshops, conferences, special events, shows and other initiatives. The keyword for the 2023 Festival, now in its twenty-first year, will be “Footprints”.
As stated on the Festival website, human history is characterized by an infinitely diverse typology of footprints: traces left purposefully and subconsciously, destined to testify to the past, define the present and shape the future. Footprints as activities and their results. As memories. As journeys, visions or encounters. Some footprints define us as unique human beings. Fingerprints, but also brain and genomic imprinting, with countless uses in biometrics and forensic science.
The 2023 edition of the Science Festival will also focus on footprints that matter for the environment: ecological, water or carbon footprints and, in general, the multiple marks that human activity leaves on the Earth’s ecosystem. The focus will be on natural and artificial footprints which are investigated by archaeologists, palaeontologists and naturalists, but which are also the subject of frontier research in molecular biology, with the techniques of genetic fingerprinting and its various uses on people, as well as in chemistry and agriculture. And then particle imprinting, astrophysical phenomena, imprinting in the animal kingdom and much more.
The closing date for the call is 18 February 2023. All participants are invited to register on the website: http://call.festivalscienza.it.
