Nffa.eu, the pan-European infrastructure at the forefront of nanoscience research, expands its scope and activities with a Memorandum of Understandingfor the implementation of a long-term programme signed by 10 leading research organizations.

The initiative aims to establish a roadmap to expand and upgrade the research infrastructure and advanced services offered, further strengthening international scientific cooperation in the field. The Memorandum was signed by: National Research Council (CNR) and University of Milan (UMIL), Italy; Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) and Commissariat à l’énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA), France; Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Spain; Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron (DESY), Germany; Idryma Technologias kai Erevnas (FORTH), Greece; Lunds Universitet (ULUND), Sweden; Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI), Switzerland.

Coordinated by IOM (Istituto Officina dei Materiali) Materials Foundry of the National Research Council (CNR-IOM), the Nffa.euconsortiumbrings together 22 international partners. The headquarters at Area Science Park, in Trieste, provides integrated access to laboratories for synthesis and manipulation of nanostructures (nanofoundries) and fine analysis techniques.

The Memorandum of Understanding, which expires on 1 January 2031, may be extended by agreement of the parties.
