National platforms at the Human Technopole: open call for the selection of experts

The website of the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has published a call for the selection of renowned experts to form the independent committee for the assessment of applications for access to the National Platforms (NPs) implemented at the Human Technopole Foundation (HT).

The call is open to highly qualified scientists – having no affiliations, roles or active positions with the HT Foundation, Italian universities, IRCCSs (Institutes for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care) and Italian public research organizations – engaged in fields covered by the national platforms, in particular in population and functional genomics, transcriptomics, structural biology, cancer biology and evolution, light microscopy and image analysis, computational biology, epidemiology, omics or single cell omics, and epigenomics.

Applications should be submitted via Invitalia’s GEA platform by 2 September 2023.

The eight members that will form the Standing Independent Evaluation Committee (SIEC) will be appointed by the Supervisory Board of the HT Foundation from a shortlist of applicants indicated by the Minister of University and Research and the Health Minister.

The decision to set up national platforms at the Human Technopole was made with the aim of promoting the production of quality research and projects across the country through participation in competitive processes to access the economic, human and technological resources made available by the state at the HT Foundation.

Specifically, the identification of five NPs in the sectors of genomics, genome editing, structural biology, light microscopy, data handling and analysis is the result of a two-stage consultation process, as laid down in the Convenzione signed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of University and Research (MUR) and the HT Foundation. The first stage of the process involved representatives of regions, social partners and third sector organizations conducting or funding research in the life sciences. In the second level consultation, the collected results were then submitted to the Italian scientific community for further comments and opinions.
