On 14 March 2024, Beamide S.r.l, a spin-off company of the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN), set up in November 2021 in Perugia, received the prestigious Innovation America Award 2024 from Fondazione Italia Usa for the development of the MRADSIM software. This award of international prestige is a qualification and certification of quality vis-à-vis investors and markets and is addressed to the best Italian startups that every year promote entrepreneurial talents in Italy.
MRADSIM will be able to stimulate the effects of radiations on electronic, mechanic and biological systems and to convert them in the simulation input format. The demo free version of the converter was reviewed and tested by high-profile scientific institutions, including the European Space Agency (ESA), CERN, NASA, Stanford Universityin California, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston and the Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Being a very versatile tool, MRADSIM can be used in the aero-space as well as in the medical physics and nuclear sectors. Preventing, monitoring and searching for new methods of radiation cleanup is important in a context in which these activities are beginning to have a relevant impact on the global health and defence.
Along with the MRADSIM project, Beamide is also involved in the research and development of innovative radiation detectors, radiations tests and qualification tests in thermal vacuum chambers.
The award was given to the company co-founders, Efe Alpat and Giovanni Bartolini, accompanied by Ali Behcet Alpat – designer and scientific coordinator of the MRADSIM project – who showed great satisfaction.
“Besides the precious recognition, Fondazione Italia Usa also assigned us two important scholarships for the Master’s Degree in Leadership for international relations and made in Italy, where a number of internationally renowned teachers are involved,” said the co-founders.
