Ready to join the Researchers’ Night? Events will be held on 27 September across Europe

On 27 September 2024, science will be celebrated across Europe on the European Researchers’ Night, the largest science event in Europe, with 58 projects that will run in 25 countries in 2024 and 2025.

Universities and research institutes across Europe will open their doors and share their work through presentations, experiments, games, discussions and other interactive formats. Attendees will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes, meet researchers working in their area and discover how the seemingly abstract world of science is already affecting their everyday life.

The European Researchers’ Night brings research and researchers closer to the public, attracting over 1.5 million visitors across Europe each year; it promotes excellent research projects across Europe; it increases the interest of young people in science and research careers; and it shows how researchers’ work affects our daily lives

The initiative is addressed to fans of science who can attend the events of interest and discover the world of science in a fun and interactive way – with family, friends, colleagues or on their own.

Researchers will have the unique opportunity to meet and engage with people of all ages, finding an innovative and intuitive way to present their research to a wide audience, raising awareness of their research contents and impact on society.

Also schools are involved in the initiative, through a new format called Researchers at Schools which brings scientists into the classroom and pupils to the lab. It complements the European Researchers’ Night and is run by the same organisers. The difference is that the activities take place throughout the year with the purpose of engaging students of primary and secondary schools in the fascinating world of science and developing their skills in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). In 2022 and 2023 over di 320,000 pupils were involved.

All events are free of charge and open to everyone. The programmes are available on the websites of each project or organizing institutions.
