Space, Framework Agreement signed between the Ministry of Defence and ASI

The Ministry of Defence and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) have signed a Framework Agreement aimed at carrying out programmes and studies of common interest in the field of space activities. The Agreement was signed in the presence of the Chief of the Defence Staff, Admiral Cavo Dragone, delegate of the Minister of Defence Guido Crosetto, and ASI President Giorgio Saccoccia.

The Agreement takes into account the changed regulatory landscape and introduces new cooperation topics in research and technological innovation and in projects and studies of national interest that can be developed by the two Administrations. Specifically, the Agreement between ASI and the Ministry of Defence involves the implementation of specialist training courses, professional updating courses and dual programmes.

The constant evolution of risks and threats in the space sector requires a strong partnership between civil and military actors for seeking technological and operational solutions to prevent accidents and service disruptions.

The Agreement thus reinforces a well-established cooperative relationship in which ASI has long been a reference for the implementation of the Defence Space Policy in emerging technology sectors such as Space Situational Awareness and in various fields of scientific research.
