At the end of October, Minister of University and Research Anna Maria Bernini allocated additional €187 million to the fifth call under Law 338/2000 for the implementation of university student facilities. This will allow to proceed with the scrolling of the ranking list and fund new sleeping places, which will be intended for students who are capable and deserving but lack the means, as per the call.
The €187 million allocated will add to €500 million already assigned that implemented housing and residences as well as maintenance activities for urban renewal and building of existing facilities. The call is also aimed at funding projects for energy efficiency, demolition and reconstruction, transformation, expansion or completion of existing buildings, and purchasing buildings to be used as university residential facilities.
For these interventions state co-financing of up to 75 percent of the total cost is provided.
