The Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has published the notice concerning the funding of research and development projects in the framework of the Research targeting development of innovative therapeutic strategies in cardiovascular disease international call for proposals.
Overall, the MUR has allocated 1 million euro to fund Italian projects that have been evaluated positively and considered eligible for funding. These projects are funded using the resources of the Fund for Investment in Scientific and Technological Research (FIRST) 2022. Additional resources may be allocated by the European Commission under the ERA4Health Partnership. Out of the total allocated by MUR, 400,000 euro will be used to fund projects with a young researcher (younger than 40 years) as Principal Investigator for the Italian partners.
The call aims to support the development of innovative therapeutic strategies in cardiovascular disease addressing the following topics: repair and/or regeneration of the heart and/or the blood vessels; chronic heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
The call is open to universities, research institutions and organizations, enterprises, local and regional administrations, and patient advocacy organizations. Applications for funding should be submitted in two parts by 16:00 on 7 February 2023: an international application to be submitted to the ERA4Health partnership Joint Call Secretariat via the electronic submission system available at https://ptoutline.eu/app/era4healthcvd; a national application to be submitted to MUR through the platform available at https://banditransnazionali-miur.cineca.it.
Fundamental research, industrial research and experimental development activities are eligible for funding. MUR will allocate up to a maximum of 200,000 euro for each project submitted by Italian project partners.
